BISHOP EMMANUEL EL FOUNDATION, AN EPITOME OF THE BIBLICAL MINISTRIES AND BENEVOLENT SERVICES TO OTHERS.

The Biblical ministries and benevolent services to others are the examples of what God wants us to do to others and other works of mercy exemplified in the Bible days by people of like passion. God wants us to love, care, give, help, support and to assist the needy. The ministries of the Bible heroes shall be reviewed and restudied which shall help us to know what God needs from us as we serve Him. Among the Bible examples in this are”

1. The ministry of the good Samaritan.

2. The ministries of Cornelius and Lydia.

3. The ministries of the apostles

4. The ministry of Moses.

 

The above Biblical services exhibited by the above mentioned characters are worthy of emulation and God’s daily demands from us. We shall now go to the specific services and works of mercy rendered by each of the above mentioned Bible heroes and how God was pleased by such services rendered by such people.

 

A. THE MINISTRY OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN LK 10”30-35

The ministry of the good Samaritan as we see in the Bible is the ministry of mercy and compassion. The good Samaritan as he is widely known and called was praised, honoured and appreciated because he showed great love and mercy to them he never knew before and to the person in great need. He met a wounded man, stranded man a robbed man and a helpless man who needed the help and service of others in order to live and to survive. Many people passed where the man was almost killed but did not help him, neither cared for him, but a man from Samaria who also came to the very place saw him and had compassion on him.

 

THE SERVICES OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN

The Samaritan was an Israelite who did not fully uphold the worship and religion of the Jews. The Samarians were less regarded in the issues of piety, cleanness, faith and Jewish righteousness. Based on these the people from other parts of Israel abhorred and disregarded the people as far as the worship of one true God is concerned. The Samaritan was the person who gave attention to the wounded man who was beaten by unknown criminals along the way. Others whose pius lives had echoed louder did not show any concern. Below were what the Samaritan did to help the man.

1. HE HAD COMPASSION ON THE HELPLESS LK 10:33

The man that was harmed and wounded by thieves was helpless and powerless and was half dead, but the merciful Samaritan had compassion on him and stopped at his pains on the pool of blood to help him. This is the true business and picture of Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation.

2. HE WENT TO HIM LK 10:34

The good Samaritan associated himself with the pains of the afflicted and the helpless and sought ways to bring him to life again. This is the purpose of existence of the Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation as an organization of mercy.

3. HE BOUND HIS WOUNDS VV 34

The Samaritan gave the first aid treatment to the helpless victim of armed robbers and to help him live again. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is out to help the helpless people and to make people came back to life instead of untimely grave.

4. POUR OIL AND WINE AT THE WOUNDS VV 34

To reduce the pains was another step of the good Samaritan and to comfort the afflicted in order to have the sense of belonging. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is an organization of comfort and compassion to the victims and afflicted.

5. HE SET THE WOUNDED IN HIS HORSE TO THE HOSPITAL VV 34

The Samaritan put the afflicted in his horse (car) down to the nearby hospital for the total treatment of the man. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is an organization of the total treatment of the sick and the poor. The treatment of the poor like the good Samaritan is one of our major focuses.

6. HE TOOK CARE OF HIM VV 34

The Bible says the good Samaritan took care of the helpless wounded man. Caring, helping and loving are the purpose of the total existence of Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation. We care and extend the caring to all people irrespective of religion, tribe, culture or colour.

7. HE PAID HIS MEDICAL BILLS VV 35

The Bible says, the good Samaritan paid the medical bill of the afflicted man. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is the organization that pays the medical bills of the poor.

 

B. THE MINISTRIES OF CORNELIUS AND LYDIA ACTS 10:1-2, ACTS 10:22-23, ACTS 16:14-15

Cornelius was described with great potentials of humanitarian services. A roman soldier of higher honour, who was described as a devout man, one that fears God with all his heart and a man that prays to God always. The spiritual quality of Cornelius was very great which accompanied his benevolent and merciful services to men as stated below.

I. ONE THAT GIVES MUCH ALMS TO PEOPLE ACTS 10:2

He was the helper of the poor and caters for the less privileged and all that beg food. This is the business of Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation that is called to feed and to help.

II. HE LODGED THEM VV 23

Cornelius received the people and also lodged them in his own house as a mark of his mercy and benevolent work. Cornelius was the receiver and comforter of the houseless. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is the comforter and the lodger of the houseless persons even the strangers according to the Bible.

III. THE MINISTRY OF LYDIA ACTS 16:14-15

Lydia was a woman from thyatria who received the gospel from the ministry of Paul, who was converted with her household. She was a faithful Christian who loved caring, giving and helping others who were in need. Her benevolent ministry was expressed in her characters.

1. She received the strangers v 15

3. She cared for the strangers v 15

4. She gave them to eat v 15

 

The ministry of Lydia was the ministry of mercy and compassion. It is the ministry of caring and helping. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation was like the ministry of Lydia which was receiving, feeding, caring and giving. God loves the cheerful giver.

Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is a reliable foundation that has its root in the word of God. It is a reliable N.G.O in the country that stands on its emphasis and focus. It is a continuation of what the faithful followers of God did in their days.

 

C. THE MINISTRIES OF THE APOSTLES ACTS 4:32-35, ACTS 6:1-7

The ministries of the apostles of Jesus Christ were the ministries of love, caring, giving ad the ministries of empathy. The apostolic ministries were the continuation of the compassionate ministries of Christ. They were the ministries of mercy, caring, sharing, giving and of benevolence. The apostles combined gospel preaching with caring, giving and healing, just like Jesus their master. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation (N.G.O) otherwise shall be seen as the continuation of the apostles ministries in our days. The compassionate and the mercy ministries of the apostles were exhibited in these:

I. SHARED THINGS IN COMMON ACTS 4:32

During the apostolic era foods, clothes and other material things were share in common that people ate to their own satisfaction. The poor, the needy, the sick, the widows and all were served equally and were also brought under one umbrella of Christ. This is what Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation (N.G.O) stands for. It is a place where the hungry soul and the hungry stomach shall be fed and be satisfied also.

II. NONE LACKED ACTS 4:34

The Bible says, none of the poor, the hungry people, the widows and the less privileged in the ministries of the apostles lacked anything because they were fed with food, water and other material needs. They were housed and cared for. There was free association of the poor and the rich during the apostolic era. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is the offspring of the apostolic caring and benevolent ministry.

III. DISTRIBUTIONS MADE ACTS 4:35

The apostles methods of reaching the poor, the sick, the widows, the hungry citizens and the less privileged in the society were free and fair distribution of foods and other needed items. The apostles saw it as serious need to care, feed, clothe, protect and to help the poor, the needy, the sick, the less privileged and the widows with foods and with other needed items.

IV. REMEBRANCE AND CARING FOR WIDOWS ACTS 6:1

The attention of the apostles were on the widows and orphans in their daily ministration. To care for the widows, the orphans and the poor were the first priority of the apostles. The apostles ministries were the ministries to save souls and to save lives. Their ministries were for the soul, the body and for the spirit. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation (N.G.O), is an organization called to save souls, save lives and to protect the body, just like the apostolic ministries during their era.

Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is the best and the most reliable N.G.O in the country. It is the best because of its Bible centeredness, its focus and because of its grass root programs in the community of human beings. The love and caring of Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation are for the white, the black and for all the needy and less privileged under the sun that’s why it is the best and most reliable.

LISTENING TO CHRIST MTT 25:34-40, JAS 2:15-17, I JN 3:16-18, PROV 19:15, LK 10:38-40

Jesus emphasized much on how to minister to Him, how to give Him, how to feed Him, how to visit him, how to care for him, how to clothe him, how to help him, how to cool His thirst, how to house him and how to meet his needs. He emphasized that clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, treating the sick, accommodating the strangers, visiting the prisoners, helping the poor and all good supports given to the poor and all the less privileged people were done to him (Jesus). Therefore caring and supporting the orphans, the poor, the prisoners, the sick, the widows and all the less privileged ones in our society were done to Jesus and all our gifts to them were given to Jesus alone Mtt 25:34-40. Jesus pointed that, while the prisoners, the sick, the poor, the widows, the orphans, the abandoned children, the less privileged, the indigent students and the aged childless widows are suffering that He is suffering and good works done to them are done to Him. JESUS CHRIST mandated us to give to Him through special supports, special caring, special helping, special attention and feeding to this class of people which He classified and testified as given to Him and not even to the needy but to Him as a person (JESUS) Mtt 10:40-42, Mk 9:41.

The easiest way to give to Christ, to minister to Christ or to care for Christ is to give, to care, to support or to help the poor, the prisoners, to orphans, the less privileged people, the widows and the sick. Thus, this organization is bent to care for Christ through its attention to this class of people in our society and in the world at large.

 

THE REALITY OF MINISTERING TO CHRIST THROUGH THE POOR AND THE LESS PRIVILEGED ONES

a. He that has pity on the poor has lent to God Prov. 19:15

b. Whosoever shall give these little children (orphans) a cup of water shall be rewarded Mtt. 10:42.

c. Pure religion and undefied faith before God is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction Jas 1:27.

d. He that has two coats let him give to him that has none, and he that has food, let him also do likewise Lk. 3:10-11.

e. Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord and not as unto men, knowing that, of the Lord you shall receive the reward Col 3:23-24.

f. In as much as you have clothed the naked, visited the prisoner, cared for the sick, housed the strangers, fed the orphans and gave food and water to the hungry and thirsty souls, you have done all to me (Jesus) Mtt. 25:34-40.

HEAVENLY INSTRUCTIONS

Those who love the Lord and those who want to work and support the Lord’s business should invest in the survival of the sick, the survival of the orphans, the motherless babies, the poor and the survival of the less privileged ones.

THE MINISTRY OF MOSES EX 3:1-22, CHPT 4,5,6

The ministry of Moses, the law giver of Israel was the ministry of the total caring of the body, the soul and the spirit. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is a ministry of total caring of the body, soul and spirit. The examples of Moses’ ministries is hereby symbolized in Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation.

I. MOSES’ MINISTRY IS THE MINISTRY OF PROTECTION

The supreme task of Moses is to protect the people and to lead them safely to their promised land. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation in the same way is destined to make people become whom God created them to become and to lead them safely to their divine destination.

II. MINISTRY FEEDING AND CARING

Moses fed the Israelites with manna from above in order to quench the hostile hunger in their midst. The ministry of Moses therefore includes the ministry of feeding. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation in other hand is the ministry of feeding and caring in order to save the people from the severe hunger and the hostile attacks from different afflictions.

III. MINISTRY OF QUENCHING THE THIRST

In the wilderness, the people of Israel were too weak, too thirsty, too tired, too discouraged and too frustrated due to long distance of their journey from Egypt to their promised land, but MOSES knowing their needs made water available in order to quench their thirst and satisfied their desire. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is an organization to quench both psychological thirst, mental thirst, physical thirst, spiritual thirst and the social thirst of the less privileged people around.

IV. MINISTRY OF HOUSING THE STRANGERS

The ministries of Moses, included the ministry of housing the houseless, the strangers and the ministry of housing the stranded and make those without houses be sheltered and accommodated. He made tents in the wilderness for the people to live in order to help them survive. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is an organization that helps the helpless and to house the houseless and to bring great senses of belonging to them.

V. MINISTRIES OF CARING AND PROTECTION

Moses business was all about the lives, survival and protection of the Israelites whom He saw as his sheep while he was their shepherd. He protected them at the red sea in the wilderness, at the Jordan River and during their enemies’ attacks. He cared and protected them from all dangers and supplied their physical needs. In other hand, Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is an organization that cares and protects the sick, the poor, widows and the less privileged people from the harms of their oppressors or enemies.

VI. MINISTRY OF SALVATION

Moses led the people to God and became the mediator between the Israelites and JEHOVAH their creator. Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation is not only after the people’s physical needs but also after their spiritual needs, directing them to the way of salvation through JESUS CHRIST.

We shall here mention some of the ministries of our lord and savior Jesus Christ who dropped His examples for us to follow. Below are the ministries of Christ and the purpose of His coming to the earth from His original above in heaven. The scriptures confirm that Jesus came for the underlisted business and also fulfilled the under listed ministries in human community which we were mandate to continue.

I. HE CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THE LOST LK 19:10

The supreme task of our Lord and savior JESUS Christ was to seek and to save the lost. This is to seek those who are lost in sin, in thinking, lost in pursuit and lost in human imaginations whose lives are destroyed by sin and Satan, and who have lost all hope of restoration, and all hope of survival.

II. TO SAVE SINNERS MTT 1:21

Jesus came into the world to save sinners. The supreme task of Jesus is to save sinners because He does not like anyone to perish, to suffer and to go to hellfire. The continuation of this divine business was committed to the church, thus, Bishop Emmanuel El foundation is bent to save lives and to save souls.

III. HEALING THE SICK MTT 8, MTT 9

The fulltime business of JESUS Christ, now and then was to heal the sick and to restore good health to people. Many things can cause bad health condition including poverty, thus Bishop Emmanuel El foundation in taking Jesus example is bent to restore good health among the people and to cater the medical bills of the poor.

IV. DELIVERING THE OPPRESSED

The ministry of JESUS CHRIST was and is characterized with deliverance. Jesus hates oppression and always sticks at giving needed deliverance to demon oppressed economical oppressed, socially oppressed and physically oppressed individuals among us. Bishop Emmanuel El foundation in a move to follow JESUS example is bent to deliver people, relieve people and to loose people from suffering.

V. RAISING THE DEAD

Jesus raised the dead while in His earthly ministry. today, JESUS is still raising the physically and spiritually dead people and restoring them to life and to their senses. Many spiritually dead people in our society have received new life in Christ and are now testifying. Bishop Emmanuel El foundation is life restoration organization to the fainted, weak minded and to the discouraged individuals around us.

VI. FEEDING THE HUNGRY MULTITUDE

JESUS in His earthly ministry fed the hungry multitude who came to Hs crusade and evangelistic campaign. Today, JESUS is still feeding and caring for the hungry souls and hungry lives. JESUS did not only call people to repentance, but HE also cares for them. His statement on that was “Give them to eat” “You shall not perish” or “where I am there you shall be” the good welfare of the people was His burden. VIII. SHEPHERDING

The book of Psalms chapter 23, opens with a sweet statement “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” Jesus called himself the shepherd of the sheep. The ministering business of our lord and savior is shepherding which includes guiding the souls, leading the souls and providing for the survival of the souls. The book of Psalms chapter 121, declares, “My help comes from God and I will look upon Him. The Lord is my help in times of my troubles. XIII. LEADING

Jesus is the greatest leader. He leads His people to the perfect and still waters. He leads His people to peaceful condition, to joy, to deliverance, to salvation, to restoration and to the ground of safety. He says “Follow me and I will make you” Mtt 4:19, come unto me all you that labour … and with heavy load, and I will give you rest” Mtt. 11:28. JESUS supreme tasks on earth were the works of mercy. He did nothing outside mercy. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, made lame to walk, cleansed the leper, raised the dead, save sinners, fed the hungry souls, comforted the mourners, gave hope to the hopeless and restored strength to the withered body. Jesus is still doing these today, showing mercy to the afflicted and giving hope to the hopeless. These works of JESUS are known as the works of mercy, He did all from the heart of mercy and love. He is still doing the same today and also commanded His followers to do the same to others. The Bible declares “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son Jn 3:16, but God commanded His love towards us, that while we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us Rom 5:8. The total businesses of JESUS were the businesses of love and self denial. They were businesses without any expectation of gains or benefits. They were charitable works, charitable activities, charitable ministries and charitable orientations only. Jesus offered His life in order to save the world, God offered His only begotten son in order to save all sinful mankind. They were all selfless sacrifices without any desire for gains. Bishop Emmanuel EL foundation is a charitable organization, mercy organization, love oriented organization and godly organization called to save others from spiritual, social, economical, demonic, physical and from psychological bondages. XVI. WORKS OF COMPASSION

The three most important names associated with the ministries of JESUS are LOVE, COMPASSION and MERCY. Jesus was and is still full of compassion and mercy. He did nothing at the absence of compassion and love. Jesus had compassion on the leper, lame, the sick and the sinners which moved him to come to their aid and solved their problems. The immediate fruits of compassion are supporting, helping and caring. Jesus taught the believers to be compassionate, thus, our orphanage home is called “compassionate woman orphanage home”. The acceptable good works are only those done with compassion as Jesus directed. Bishop Emmanuel El foundation is an organization of compassion and mercy. XVII. FAITH AND FAITHFULNESS

Jesus ministries were and are still the ministries of faith and faithfulness. JESUS did nothing at the absence of faith and faithfulness. JESUS ministries have no other names than FAITH and FAITHFULNESS. JESUS is God, the second person of the trinity; still He prayed in order to tell us how faith and faithfulness work. What is required of every Christian organization is faith and faithfulness as a parcel. Rev Prof Emma Ononuju did not start and establish the Bishop Emmanuel El Foundation because of his money in the bank or in his house, but because of the greatest treasures and riches of Christ in heaven from where his help shall come.
